I am opinionated and need to express myself
I wonder if anyone else feels the way I do
I hear the voices of tongues afraid to speak
I see the faces of those who've turned away
I want to cure the world of greed and fear and pride

I pretend that I am the U.S. President
I feel like I can change the world with a wave of my hand
I touch the hearts of those without compassion
I worry that those without compassion have no hearts to touch
I cry when reality is more painful than movies about pain
I am opinionated and need to express myself

I understand that being human makes me imperfect
I say in words what my heart would if it had more than beats
I dream that I can fly and lift lonely hearts to greater heights
I try to impart in those I meet, the feelings in my heart
I hope one day to UN-plant the seeds of hate

Author's Note: This came out of a poetry exercize in English class one day. We gave the students a template to work with and I decided to write one of my own based on the template.
