all our ideas

by Indigo Tempesta

again i said "yeah." again,
again i nodded. he said "i don't
even know --i don't even know." he said
"i don't know what i mean."

this is the effort
expended in this our language, this
ineffable that is.
what system
can answer of itself
no matter how often
you ask it?

i see, wally, how umbrellas
evolved but can you tell me, can you
daddy, what signifies the tree?
and can you tell me
that you love me
and you know what i know?

Much as I'd like to say I'm up to the challenge, I can't tear you a new one. I like the language, I like the meaning, I just can't say where to improve it, outside of pulling in a concrete image or two.
