don't we try ...

by Charlie Morgan

after all, don't we try every day
and isn't it seen in all our ways
of being.

and too there's the plato thing
of living in a cave and what you bring
to the table of life.

is it us encroaching on reality
or a twist of our projected vanity
that we even make a stab.

cosmic echos heard as anti-matter,
itself an olio of the fragments shattered
to the awaiting coldness.

as you don't believe in tomorrow,
and since time is a snapshot borrowed,
it smiles as it returns the favor.
