| Posted by Richard Paez on 12/12/07 at 12:33 AM Beautiful – not only the words (which disturb and titillate – if I was a teenage girl, your poems would be Trent Reznor’s lyrics), but your photo-physical approach to it. The conflict between [finally hear something other than naked flesh] and the fact that it’s written directly on your flesh, inviting your reader to [kiss] your [inner thigh]; the fact that the reader expects red [lips, bleed, thigh, flesh] but gets blue; the fact that, were your intended reader to read it, it would be upside-down-backwards (i.e., it is written from your point of view, even though it is written for someone else) – these dissonances come together in harmony here, truly capturing the disconnect-disaccord that is always present in desire (even – maybe especially – when it is satisfied). |
