Journey of a Wandering Mind

by Bradd Howard

elbow grease and a monkey wrench
gasoline drenched rag
stuffed in the back pocket of faded blue jeans.

and we drank molatov cocktails
and discussed politics
the exact angle of an arabesque
and smiled and giggled at our own correct-ness.

I see smiling golden retrievers
dancing amidst the tiddly winks and mechanical animals
munching on pink popcorn and peanut brittle.

Quilting myself in the fabric of your existence
I leave my own bones cold
chew on crushed ice, maticate my straw tip
while my eyes search for something to fall upon.

The scene is complete with all the impressions harnessing their associations, I especially like that last stanza which left me with a feeling of being dragged through and left lost "while my eyes search for something to fall upon" - indeed when we are not ONE with the scene we are constantly searching for ourselves within it. Nicely done Bradd :-)
