gingerbread house

by Angela Thomas

Aren't you glad we decided to give
this a try? I mean, us being together
and all... I'm so used to my role as your
girlfriend that I've forgotten how to be

lonely and single again. I know you're
not laying in my bed everynight and getting
in grusome tickle wars during hurricanes,
but you still manage to stay firmly planted

in the forefront of my memory. I love you
without complications and no sooner had
you left did I begin to pick up the little
sugary crumbs of your trail, leading to

a little gingerbread house full of treasures
and miracles. We are a modern miracle, you and I.
