transparent by Ava Blu
we were
[polaroids apart, dissolving in the south
whistling through pens, charming our way back
smelling baby oil and ky, letting go of miles
every reason to stay just out of reach
cities mixing with small towns, forgetting their homes
last september holding on to stupid ideas]
over already.

Posted by Anita Mac on 09/13/05 at 01:23 AM I dig it... (I feel like I overuse that). But, I really like it. I think you're taming the form excellently, and your words are as precious as ever.
Posted by Jayme L Helmick on 06/25/06 at 03:21 PM I really like the form of this! It just LOOKS interesting, and then you go back just to reread, and it hits hard. (And yes, you posted this a long time ago. I'm trying to catch up!)
Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 11/10/06 at 08:46 PM Language-wise, one of your most interesting pieces. There's definately some really good imagery here. Wonderful work, love, as always.
Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 12/10/06 at 03:56 AM amazing how we hold onto relationships that have been emotionally dead forever simply to procrastinate and put off the ultimate emotional dropoff which is breaking up. comfort is the ugliest thing that ever happened to love, and i think you capture the highs of what is in finality low with this piece. sharpthinking girl.
