A cacophony of shoes
Stare back at me
As I sit in my subway seat,
Most not all
Relating well
To the feet they’re on,
So many lost orphans
In the world of feet
Only the athletic shoes
Seem to have been chosen
With love
To say something meaningful
About the person
Whose feet they adorn,
I add to the misery
Of these mismatched shoes
Wearing something
That could be anyone’s
Shoes in a crowd
