a crack in the foundation by Angela ThomasSometimes, late at night, when I'm getting ready
to lie down and go to sleep, I think of you, calling
your cell phone and listening to it ring, listening
to the operator tell me that your mailbox is full,
and I think, you don't even listen to my messages,
you never call me first, am I just that long distance
girlfriend making your phone ring late at night while
you lay down in your bed with another? I cry a little
sometimes when I'm going to sleep because I didn't
get to hear your voice. Somehow though, my phone
always manages to ring later that night, after I've started
to dream about our house with our child and our dog
and the little crack that was in the foundation starts
to close a little bit until the next time I try to fall asleep. 09/07/2005 Posted on 09/07/2005 Copyright © 2023 Angela Thomas
