Droplet

by Christopher Shin

Each droplet a memory of
how my eyes shutter at
the ideals of youth
when I was younger
like the seventh year
long past gone.

Yet I remember the
sadness and bitterness
like wasted hopes on
a forgotten land.

Each drop reminds me
of how the wind smelled
when broken hearts
followed as I walked
away from everything.

Like a sad tapestry
of a life gone totally
chaotic in a spinner's
dazed dream, I stand
struggling against
each pull.

Yet again I am lost
again when you whisper
the curses I did to you.
All the sins drain from
your cup as I drink
the poison.

Forgetting me isn't so
easy as slowly memories
like remembrance haunt
each street as the cold
wind blows through my
raven locks with silver
despair in my skull.

My mind lapse over
misery, but you'll
have only joy.
And I smile for a
droplet in time.
