on the road in a big gas truck

by Mary Ellen Smith

never light enough.

the very early morning hours

wrap her cold arms

around him as he goes off to work

the warmth of the hot shower

steams wispily away

and the windshield turns to fog

from his first cup of coffee.

sermons go thru his head

music from the Christian station turned up

i know Jesus rides with him

in that great big gas truck

No explanation needed. You put me right in the driver's seat. Very nice.
