Seedling

by Mary Ellen Smith

Quiet

Resting

Watered, fed.

Little seed in earthen bed.

Waking

Searching

For the morn.

Stretching, ready to be born.

Supple

Green

Tender shoot.

Stronger yet with every root.

Sunshine

Bright

Warm and free.

What will you grow up to be?
