kasi

by Emily G Myers

kasi is shorter than i
it's a feat
& makes promises
she won't keep

blonde or
red or
something...
but she doesn't have
any eyebrows.
the hugest smile
you've ever seen.
she is skinny
but not.

& i am never more
a.w.a.r.e
of my jealousy
than when kasi
steps into my space

she told him
NO.
no one tells him
NO.

and it's no wonder she
can hold his attention
& manage to meet his parents
the second week

kasi is smarter than i
& is it wrong to learn
from someone so young?

for all the girls
I've known

i am never more
a.w.a.r.e
of my jealousy
than when
kasi
steps
into
my
space.

Author's Note: I don't really know her well, but I felt she really deserved a poem because she gave me an epiphany. I'm the opposite of what boys want quite a lot of the time. she showed me how. any girl that can unwittingly show you how to unnerve a boy deserves a poem, I think.
