asthma attack by Ava Blu
instead of talking,
I wheeze the words
attack of the weak, yet
overrun with power
I am a southern, small town belle
with a big city heart;
I want bright lights and big dreams
squash that
I'll settle for the dark and just one dream
if if
if I am able to speak
gotta remember to brush my teeth
before you take my voice
I'll write write write
though my hands shake;
just think of it as a tornado form
when the lines break up words
be sure to have your magnifying glass
if you ever want to keep me.

help with title?

Posted by Jim Benz on 09/01/05 at 03:39 PM "I'll settle for the dark and just one dream" is a great line. The title's alright too, kind of ties things together. |
Posted by Meghan Helmich on 07/09/08 at 12:46 PM because i have asthma, i know the panic of the feeling when you're having an attack. so, i expected a bit more of that material in the poem. but it was still good for what it's worth. nothing in a poem is ever irrelevant! |
Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 04/21/09 at 03:31 AM I think your voice is just fine here. This is the kind of piece that begs to be part of the spoken word scene. I love it. |
