the society lip sync

by Charlie Morgan

i lip sync to society's lead,
only when it doesn't suit me.

but those rare times,
when
we agree, though they're short-lived,
i trill at the union.

still most days, moments, even,
i see through the wizard's curtain
of governmental lies and their pandering of
more ignorance as a staple comestible.

so, i camouflage my consternation
knowing we're all in a hurry
and don't even know why,
looking for answers that don't exist.

I saw you on the "10 most recent" list. I love this poem. I can relate to that feeling a lot, but have a hard time expressing it in poetry. bravo. The government and just the way this country is run can be absolutely devastating to think about. It brings about a helpless sort of feeling.
