red blood by Travis G Finborgthe trickle soon became a flood
a gush poured
a red splash on the ground
it soaked into the sand
and became a stain
the flesh was mangled
a torn limb broken
a bloated meat bouqet
the pants were singed
black edges melted into the leg
white bone stared
in a pure contrast from the red mass
I retched
sank to my knees
the bullets flew
a thousands wasps
something pulled at my side
"Christ, what am I doing here?"
i felt a dull wet ache
his eyes stared at me
glazed over
a bloody froth covered his mouth
I crawled over
or atleast tried
my body didnt seem to be cooperating
i wiped his mouth
he seemed amazed
I sat on my knees and stared at the ground
as i looked down i saw more of the red stain
now it covered my usually tan uniform
i reached down
distantly i heard someone yelling
amid the wasps and thunder
it was nothing
"Come on you idiot,
lets get out of here!
and then i was carried
i looked back and saw
the same red stain
and the silent amazement
still fixed on his face
