Intimate by Trisha De GraciaStaring through eyes so clear
the sky's expanse is open
waiting for an answer to the question.
I let you place your head upon my thighs
that tired head
and lay it in my hands but I am still.
I stare at you.
I breathe as silent as stars
and you doze away.
This is how you show me that you love
that you care, with such boldness
-putting your skull in my lap.
What confidence, I think,
what nerve
to place it there and know it won't be thrown.
You whisper those words and I don't understand them.
You tell me they don't need explaining
so why do the telling?
I need them
I need words like I need arms
like I need eyes to see you with.
I need an attempt to voice the unvoicable
thoughts and emotions
I want to know if our kisses aren't speaking in tongues.
I need more than that distinct embrace
more than lips and anecdotes.
