one more wasted wish

by Charlie Morgan

wasting one more wish, i toss my hopes
on the tail of the wind and let it be carried
like a tumble weed, to stop where natures meet.

let reality’s rock pummel me like ali in the good days;
let me have that thing that i don’t know i need
and i’ll languor along with my dull wits employed.

as a cosmic alarm clock, bbbbrrrriiiinnnngs me awake
and as i rub the earthly sleep from my eyes
i notice you, too, standing as expectant as i.

together, let’s run from what we seek,
instead huddle, pool our dreams and wishes
and cast a net to gather the stars.

let our union be the bridge to understanding
all this and more, knowing and celebrating
the mytery’s even deeper mystery.
