serenity garden

by Angela Thomas

You are a serenity garden. I never understood
before now what it meant to say the words,
requitted love but now, I do. Your voice
is enough to calm my crying when you say the things

that I desperately need to hear, It's a major surgery
but it will be okay.
There is a depth in your voice
and a deep look in your eyes that tells me that you know
more about these mortal things than I do, so when you

tell me I'll be fine, I believe you. You make my eyes face
straight ahead, as I look at nothing but your calm disposition
and your folded hands. I don't want to look away because
then I might become scared again. Hold me tightly

and play soft chimey music under a broken sunbeam
while I humm. You are my serenity garden, Love.
