Her Death

by Leonard M Hawkes

I saw the wall in the sky,
But simply wondered,
Doubted meaning.

I should have known it,
As I fought the wind,
Sensed the dimness.

But when I stepped out
Wearily at dusk,
I knew

Her death;
And would share
Its certainty Southward.
