part one: the never-ending

by Richard Paez

I dreamt that I swallowed single lotus petals one by one until my mind became empty and my belly became full.

My hands grew heavy and fell away from me as water, splashing my feet and forming a river.

Then my feet grew heavy, becoming golden river coi swimming lazily away through the crystal waters.

Unable to grasp I found myself famished.

Unable to walk I found myself gagged and bound, in love with Gravity and lusting for the dank musk of her sister, Earth.

Sinking to the dirt my soul grew heavy, cascading into a swarm of locusts and mantises.

And in a thousand years, when the millions which were once me finally meet the cool dirt, my mind will become full, and my belly empty, and the waters of the world will flow free again.

Author's Note: I chew the flesh from my finger's edge trying to fill up the hunger left by you. All my shortcomings--still, how could you do this to me? You meant everything. Everything. What am I supposed to do now?

Oh my, this has a certain sad beautiful brillance to it and then the comment at the end...just heartbreaking.

oh my, very powerful read. This is so penetrating in its wretched details of the human persona. I hate to admit it, but it brought tears to me. A drowning vulnerability to every word, into every sentence.. thats all I can really say..

Unable to walk I found myself gagged and bound, in love with Gravity and lusting for the dank musk of her sister, Earth. i love the imagery behind this, and the way this poem reads kind of makes me wanna get inside your brain. the authors note is equally stunning and intense, and gives the intended background of this moving piece.
