i met you quite by accident

you sobered me up ~ took me
back to your place and we
were having sex before we even
knew each others last names
we laughed about it later

i did fall in love though
and our sex turned tender
if it can do that

i remember always feeling
protected
nourished
when you were around

that fall day in the cemetery
the wind was just right

Halloween at the Peabody in Memphis
i started acting naughty on the
way home ~ you took a wrong turn
and we ended up in Missouri

you blamed me
funny ~ you weren't complaining until then
those were some of the most carefree days of my life
