i knew
from the moment i saw you
that our names were
written on each other's
hearts

you captivated me with your words
your poetry
your fiction
i would sit for hours in the hallway
of my dorm and soak in your thoughts

i remember so much more than i dare
grant myself to hold onto purely

most of all ~ i recall that night
dinner and poetry
and making love like never before

you were the hardest to let go of
perhaps i never fully have

i will always love you
