Imperfection

by Alison McKenzie

Imperfection makes it interesting
Why, if there were no imperfection
My scars wouldn’t be precious
Your left hook wouldn’t turn me on
My smile wouldn’t be, well, me.
Imperfection is one of my favorite spices
No two dishes ever the same
And yet decadent none the less
Because underneath the blemished surface rides
Love
Tolerance
Kindness
And endurance.
Yes, imperfection makes it all interesting.
And I thank God every day
That we have had the opportunity
To know it together.

Some wonderful thought processes here...

Very true. There would be little to endear us in this world if no one had quirks or blemishes. Your poetry is so inspirational and you have such a bright spirit, Alison.
