The Rock

by Dave Fitzgerald

Every solid structure, needs a foundation on which to stand,
To hold that structure forever, untold forces to withstand.
You were the solid rock that our family was built upon,
And our family will not crumble because you are not gone.

You created new rocks on which new structures stand.
We will follow in your footsteps,we will not turn to sand.
We will hold up firm the family house and stand out from the crowd.
We will carry on the family name and try to do you proud.

You will live forever, we will carry you in our hearts.
Your death was not an ending, but many brand new starts.
You left your mark upon this earth, on people, places, time,
And we'll only have to think of you to know that we'll be fine
