A Sea Maiden

by Jennifer L Banks

I set sail on the sea of humanity
not really caring where I went.
Drifting aimlessly, looking for home
Not finding any port to rest my heart in.
But there in the sunlit distance,
Some empty isle of man, I see before me
A lone beachcomber wanders along its shores
I wonder, is that a place to lower thy sails,
Letting the tide pull me in?
I do not know what to do
My boat is nicked with scars from the
Storms it has weathered.

For the sea has been my companion
And what I see along the shores of
Many an eroded beach are just mirages.
Figments of hope perhaps
Dreams untouchable
It has been so long I wonder
Have I forgotten how to turn the bow
And head to shore or do I sail on by…….

This is wonderful, it really brings the reader into this whimsical world of yours that seems to be more of an intersection with choices. Great read.
