Heat Wave by Jane E PearceAir like cotton candy
hanging from the trees,
the sun laughing
and peeking between
the clouds, bold
and hot as lust
on a summer night.
.
We don't touch lest we melt
before the first groan.
Come, the porch is cooler,
the breeze- a teasing feather
to make us smile, and forget
the rumpled sheets
upstairs for a while.

| Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 12/20/07 at 01:39 AM Love the sweetness here. Each stanza has a "bold" passion. "hot as lust on a summer night". I love the "porch" and the suggestive "forget the rumpled sheets upstairs for a while". |
