life is not enough
to fill the cup of death:
onward outward searching
through graveyards of stripped pine
gargantuan elbows
craned upward
tearing heart from limb
I stagger on
each step
a milestone to the clay

slate green streaks
in
nut brown hair
what are these milestones to the clay
past lovers
past courage?
