"Crossfire Kid"

by Max Phineas

Caught in the crossfire
He refuses to run.
Just faces the villains
Shot down by no one.

Takes blow after blow
Never so much as falters.
They try hard to knock him down
And he just stands up taller.

Never retaliates
Or plans acts of vengeance;
Not the slightest intimation
Of malicious intentions.

Just rolls with the punches
Keeps his faith and good name.
Never lets it get to him
Violence is not his game.

Won't back down, he stands his ground
And waits for justice to come.
He's just caught in the crossfire
And refuses to run.

Author's Note: For my friend who stands there and takes it, faces up to it, and never fights back.
