senses and memory by Bet Yeldemi have read about long kisses wet and warm
but thats not the way i knew them
his cold tongue always made me smile
like a child whod discovered a secret garden
tonight i remembered how
he never finished a glass of sweet tea
without also devouring its ice
and then reaching for me

Author's Note: i started to write a poem, because i couldn't sleep. nothing was working. i suddenly had this flashback moment and decided to write it down... it's not really worth recording here, but i'm doing it anyway... chalk it up to sleep deprivation.

Posted by Rachelle Howe on 02/09/07 at 07:20 AM i like the cadence and syntax of this piece. short and sweet, though not terribly original. i even like the internal rhyme, which is rare for me. hm. i'm not altogether sure exactly how i feel. more to come. |
