Straight and Narrow by Richard VinceLets change our minds
And see what they give us
In return for ourselves
Will we get a consciousness
With walls of clichés
Built on foundations of conventions?
If a picture paints a thousand words
Can a thousand words paint a picture?
Maybe a thousand is more than we need
But what we need, and what we want
Are they ever the same?
And do we stay as ourselves
When we become what we do?
Isnt it funny
How straight and narrow
Always stick together?

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 07/17/05 at 09:59 PM Richard, this poem brings out the idea that some questions can't be answered with words or pictures. They either have no answer or must be answered in the spirit and heart. Your poem is like the waves, always returning to shore, just as our hearts and minds are always searching for answers that may not be found immediately.

Posted by Amy Niggel on 07/18/05 at 06:20 PM I like this a lot, made me stop and think about things for a few moments which is what I always look for in a poem and ultimately always find in yours. Good job. |
