The Summer

by T.J. Carver

The summer slowly comes to an end,
fresh grasses quickly cut
before the storms begin
and removes life with a breaking dam.

The Golden Lyre shall dim and die,
Chastity regains the throne
lustrous in the sky
until, in lucidity,
the reign shall begin again.

A lover's kiss
under Diana's silver light
shows a time well spent;
summer fades like this night,

this autumnal reverie
leads to cold reflection;
a season's drink supped up
and a dying youth etched in leaves.
