Reciprocated Love

by T.J. Carver

My love, I beg you let me drown
In your embrace I know,
soon I'll no longer see your face.

My love, I weep for the time
we will now never know
as the pale moon rises into winter's night.

My love, you laid claim upon my heart
but the grave has claimed my life.
This trembling earth consumes my soul.

My love, I hope we shall love again
on whatever field we meet.
Until then, my love, may your eternal rest be brief.
