restless moments
catch up to me
in the tender moment between
sleep and dreams.

the night sounds different to me
strange but curiously attractive
melding life and death
in intricate spirals of mysteries revealing
and closing themselves over.

as I hang on to the last moment of life
I close my eyes and
allow myself to sink low--
nails cutting through the linens--
and I breath anew.
