Sugar High by Soulo Jacob Bourgeaulust available in
21 flavors of blonde
your sweet lickable veneer
dissolved prematurely
still pounds through my veins
this saccharine morphine drip
a bubblegum smile
and bee stung lips
failed to cloak your
vampirical contempt for love
crash
crash
crash down
from my high
my diabetic love funk
smile cavity-pocked for good
my seven months wasted
on this insulin rebound
though recovery draws near
and it occurs to me
in pursuit of something sugary
loveable and true
choose from among packets
in pink
yellow
and blue

Posted by Anita Mac on 07/08/05 at 04:16 AM Great flow, great metaphor... over all, pretty damn good stuff. Nice. |
Posted by Kate Demeree on 01/16/07 at 04:15 AM I rather like it just the way it is... It just feels right. The last stanza fits to me perfectly... Well Done |
