Topic: Glow

by Amanda J Cobb

Amber and green keep company in irises,
next to open pupils, admitting and emitting light,
eager to share in the world's palette.

Shades from dark honey to sunlight streak
the hair left loose to dry waving in the breeze.

The body sheathes itself in skin
a more golden hue, warm and radiant.

As I think of sayings about women in love
and how they shine from within,
the summer sun pulls the pinks and oranges of the heart
somewhere beyond the horizon, turning the world dark.

But in this season of love, I am a firecracker,
dancing circles against the night sky.

Author's Note: Topic from Katrina. I'm pretty sure I like how this turned out. Jury's still out, though.

As for the subject matter, inspired by real life for once, and happily.
