Never Realized

by Mark Maxey

wrapped up in the blankets of my mind
are the dreams I never let escape
too afraid to let them air and be wined and dined
messages sent but arrived to late

so let me run off with the circus
and spend my life with clowns
in a three ring circus amidst the lights
dangle my dreams from the high wire
but no net to catch them when they fall

spent my life hiding from my dreams
always helping others or so it seems
maybe one day I can escape the mist
to set them free seems to me a big risk

so let me run off with the circus
and spend my life with clowns
in a three ring circus amidst the lights
dangle my dreams from the high wire
but no net to catch them when they fall

it seems the light has faded
and I don’t think I am too jaded
when I look into your eyes
and ponder all my sighs
but when I close them one last time
I hope they have lived well outside the line

so let me run off with the circus
and spend my life with clowns
in a three ring circus amidst the lights
dangle my dreams from the high wire
but no net to catch them when they fall

Like a comfortable pear of jeans ~ that's what your words are to me. I needed this one Mark. Thanks. :)
