What Lurks Within by Maria Terezia Ferenczdeciding to stop living
for a moment
and observe
while I watched I listened
this is what I heard
swinging feet slapping hard
against a side of bed
a little girl singing to the audience in her head
a man close by speaks to me
listening I'm not
AS USUAL HE DOES NOT NOTICE
I simply do not care
you see I'm just observing
I'm not even really here
I hear words, opening conversations
closing up a door
dog nails just a clacking against a hard wood floor
music coming now to me
like a rivers flow
a little girl sings again
words she does not know
from her mouth sounds pretty
not a song of sin
I wonder would she sing them?
if she knew what lurked within 06/30/2005 Posted on 06/30/2005 Copyright © 2026 Maria Terezia Ferencz
