A poem for my lover whom I'm not sure should love me by Bradd HowardCan you ride this mood swing?
because you know when it gets too high I will jump off.
Can you climb this insecure-a-tree?
hold on to the branches for they will shake in the wind
and the leaves will fall off.
Can you kiss these sweet candy coated lips?
with in minutes they will pull back and hiss
exposing the teeth that have ripped out the throats of many.
Can you love this little purple heart inside of me?
hard as a softball
it too has been tossed around.
... my God I'm hoping that you are a good catch. 06/29/2005 Author's Note: just came up with the first line and wanted to try something... not sure if this works though...

hard as a softball* -- how true... i also wanted this piece to be longer, maybe explore some of the ideas here more -- beautiful setup, i wanted more of the (in)balance between the swings of mood... |
Posted by Alex Smyth on 07/17/05 at 02:26 AM The sort of twisted humour of the last line bring this above meloncholy and give it a flirty allure. Great line, you certainly took it to the finish! |
