Broken Cinderella

by Holly H Dunne

C inderella hides her tattered clothes and tear stained face from the world

O ceans in her eyes conceal shipwrecks beneath their waves no one will ever see

C rystals rain from her empty soul as her heart gently cries itself to sleep

A n angel hears those crystals shattering and he floats down to sweep them up

I n his hand is dust from heaven to make her sparkle but he warns(though by now she knows)
N othings lasts forever, and you will fade back to shadows once the

E vanescent cry of Midnight’s song echoes through the night

C atching the moonlight she dances with the stars, flying through

O pen doors, leading to a world she was forever denied

C arefree notes of laughter dart like baby birds from her smiling cherry lips spurting

A nswers to questions she didn’t know she had burning

I nside her. Everything is so beautiful, so vibrant and she is so alive, there is

N othing she cant do. Simultaneously at one and above everything in this

E uphoric state of ecstasy. And she is perfection until the

C hime of Midnight’s bells suck this feeling

O ut of her veins. Her gums are numb but the feeling is returning

C raving, yearning, needing more, the stars which once kissed her fingertips

A re now barely visible, a distant glimmer from the

I cicle cage she has fallen back into. In the whispers of the

N ight, mocking fingers of angels’ laughter leave her(as she by now knew it would) somehow more
E mpty than she was before

I gave this my highest rating! Freaking amazing! This is so real... so many people just see what they want to see and never look deeper to find out that their precious Cinderella is actually train wreck... nice work! Cocaine!

Absolutely amazing, Holly! I'm blown away by your work everytime I read it. I've been following you for a few years now, but just recently became a member of the site. I can't wait to read some new stuff. You're nothing short of an inspiration.
