In Moments that Seemed as Sacred as Nature Herself

by Lulu Alder

I want to sit atop a flower petal
and cry for the good and evil of my soul
because who would care if my salty tears
became its dew drops of morning glory?

I want to abide inside a flowerÂ’s womb
and dance without diffidence
to the heartbeat of a butterfly
and become a nudist sprinkled in merry gold.

I want to stand erect next to a flowerÂ’s stem
and whisper secrets of lust and fidelity
in a world where fragility is forgotten
except in the moments before an inaugural babyÂ’s breath.

I want to be buried alongside a flower bulb
to know what gives birth to your sweetness
and supplies your virtuous beauty
when you look towards the sun.

A beautiful piece, soft and gentle and somehow bold in the sense that the voice is strong, knowing what she wants, knowing what beauty is, sensing the fragility nature amidst its seeming strength...human nature a duality of opposing poles, "I want to stand erect next to a flower’s stem and whisper secrets of lust and fidelity" - so well done. I very much enjoyed this. Welcome to Pathetic! :-)

Lulu, welcome to Pathetic. What I see in this poem is every part of life infused in nature, so that humanity and nature are one. The delicacy of the words are balanced by the boldness of the actions. Beautiful!
