Drains Into Bay

by Uriel Tovar

the stone colored sky thundered

and darkened blue

weeping onto a cotton surfaced earth.

i followed the drops,

singularities--becoming a whole.

the side walk city's half cracked glaze

drained the stream into a yellow, green gutter

leading from obscurity into nonexistence.

my footsteps separated

ocean from wave

crashing over edge.

as i walk further

i melt into the city lights.

To get that strong ending image might I suggest a simple flip-flop between the final stanzas; or perhaps some other marriage between the two.
