Destinies

by Daniel Peterson

It's like when I think of forever
Beyond vagrant, vacant, and blue
Past every little build up point
In our lives we build so far up
How there can't be an end-
Grayness a mile long
Cavernous shadow of a memory
In the flickering firelight still
Even when I run to the end
Of my thoughts as the end of these words
You run forever on
Past where the living can see
And as far as I can think is
As far as you can run with me
So in truth I don't defy my eye
Yet in forever - let it be
The end that's never here
holds the end that is to be
while we're spinning here on earth
looking through our destinies.

The circle of life is what this expresses to me! Infinity! Great lines--"The end that's never here holds the end that is to be."
