I am grateful for the cap on my toothpaste tube
Being round
Since it would be hard to twist
On or off
If it was square,
I am grateful for my coffee mug
Having a handle
Since it would be too hot to hold
Without one,
I am grateful for the radio being invented
Before I was born
Since I can listen to music
Whenever I want,
I am grateful for authors that wrote novels
In the 19th century
Since I can then
Experience an earlier time,
I am grateful for having a roof over my head
Since it rains occasionally
And I would get very wet,
I am grateful for having attended
Kindergarten
Since it taught me the colors in the rainbow
And I acquired skills
In stacking blocks,
I am grateful for people being
Who they are
Since life would be very confusing
If they could become someone else,
Basically
I am grateful
For all the things
We take for granted,
In a small way
It may counteract
The ingratitude in the world.
