A Wealthy Sunrise

by Corey Lockaby

i wake before the sunrise
i guess so i can think
without disinterested people
so thirsty they can't drink

and any sort of encouragement
you might pay for your conscience
in any form, the master sends
a slave who has some sense

your needs, far greater than the truth
or maybe you play the part
i know no better dualism
to dampen my true art

but speak of fault, we'll be led nowhere
blind as we can be
but we are modest,
crude and faithful
even when we never see

Author's Note: I didn't have a specific scheme in mind when I wrote this, so there isn't much of a beat involved. I want to work on the first stanza before I call it final. Also, I'm not sure that I ended the third stanza very well, I might try to improve that one too.

Yes, I can see the role personality plays as against what the essence belives in.
