flesh-tone palette

by Frankie Sanchez

[cinco de siete]
I saw you naked while I slept again,
Flesh-tone palette.
You were bare and barely flawed,
Positioned strategically like an altar.
You were the church that I longed to enter,
Saintless and without baptism.
One Hail Mary will get me through this.
We were, in the confines of my imagination,
to intercourse, what sweat is to holy water,
A desire that waking up will never heal,
A want that remains unfulfilledÂ…
Even with eyes open, conscious, and aware,
I still see you,
Tempted,
Altar-ed,
Sexual,
And holyÂ…

You were the church that I longed to enter This is gorgeous. I love the symbolism of the church versus the sexual nature of the poem.
