(NEW!) In The Doghouse - #3

by Jersey D Gibson

CHAPTER 3 - OUTSIDE POLICE STATION, DAY 8, LATER AFTERNOON

JERSEY - It's amazing how things can change your perspective. When the shit hits the fan, you begin to notice the little things you never would have looked at before...

Jersey leaves the Police Station, walking towards teh designated parking garage, pulling some keys from his pocket in the dying sunlight. Jersey finds his vehicle, a plain, hardly noticable domestic car: an '86 Chevy Caprise. Jersey drives out the parking garage, as a black Cadillac pulls in behind him, and starts to significantly follow him. Jersey drives for abouta minute or two before he notices his new friends.

JERSEY - Fuck... Do they got whitewalls?

A turn is made, and the Caddie follows still, and Jersey gets a good look at the Caddie's tires.

JERSEY - No whitewalls... they ain't cops. Headhunters.

Jersey drives down the road and sees a cheap motel off to the side. The kind that advertises $29 a night prices. Jersey drives into the place and parks the car close to the rental office. Jersey gets a room for the night, and sees that the Caddie is parked in the motel parking lot, a little ways from his car, but in view. Jersey decided to go to his room.

Jersey opens the door, closes it, and locks it behind him. Then he takes one of the chairs in the room and sets the back of the chair against the handle of the door for added protection. A quick peek out the window confirms the people in the Caddie, Jersey shuts the curtains as night fully sets. Jersey goes to the bed and picks up the phone, and makes a call.

JERSEY - Rose?

(pause)

I've got unwanted company. I'm at some cheap motel for the night.

(pause)

I'll deal with them tomorrow. Might as well be comfy if they're gonna stake me out.

(pause)

I'll see you tomorrow, or give you a call. If I don't you know what to do.

Jersey hangs up the phone with a sigh. Jersey then goes to the bathroom and starts up the shower. Taking off his jacket, he empties it out, pulling out the assorted accessories. In one of the pockets, Jersey pulls out a Polaroid. In the picture is Jersey and Matt. Jersey looks at it, and snorts. He finishes getting undressed and takes a shower.

JERSEY - The great thing about traps is that the setter always assumes that it works, and is often the one suckered into it...
