Not Hiding

by T.J. Carver

No place to run when the fighting starts,
Only a closed door between me and the war,
To make peace I accept defeat.

Holding out for a chance to speak my side,
In time the war fades and my voice is heard.
Doing nothing but igniting the war anew,
I choose to surrender, I choose to be silent.
No cowardice lay behind my actions,
God and myself know my conscience, I sleep.

Author's Note: Er, not really sure about this one. I didn't really think this one out before I wrote.

The best advice I can give you is: "If you don't stand for something...you'll fall for anything."
