ahhh, the genotype revolution
has made me a pinch-runner
for the phenotypes' distribution
of man-made hells,
and man-made smells.

from fours to twos we walked,
swimming primordially before
with fins to legs, grunts to talk
but except for names
earthly animals are the same.

all of us parasitic in ingestion,
as we devour and inhale
another's energy by digestion
only to change in more ways
the future of our limited days.

when, in 5 billion years hence
our Sun's helium
and hydrogen is spent,
will we have our heads
to scratch, will words be said?
