comparing apples to triangles

by Charlie Morgan

walking, asleep in his dream-stupor
of idleness;
his brain smoothed flat, wrinkle-free
by the daily laxative
of an electronic world.

handily did he learn his lessons
and aptly he applied the foolishness
of meaningless hopes;
sonata with life's voice,
a laser pointer to his disappointment.

he waxed in his humors, each
day his path of understanding
and coincidental disillusions
piled every today before yesterday
and every day hence.

so, from 5 to 50 he speed-skated
thru life believing everything,
accepting his reality as a
lynchpin for all and frowned
when the twain never met.

he was late the day they
gave out brains and
had to settle for dreams;
and the payment due for
dream-rental is so much higher.

Author's Note: i see people aspiring to want to try to become...and that's about as far as they get because the old ego of self-protection, that once "allowed" them to piss-off school because it was a pissy thing, and now that same hourly-wage ego can't deal with the fact that ...life has gone on ahead and passed their ass by and waved when it did.
